I'm currently studying at South Wales
Baptist College and Cardiff University doing a 3
year BTH (Bachelor of Theology). My second year is drawing
to a close (Term ends June 2008) and its been an academically
difficult but never-the-less enjoyable year. .
I've been engaging with some of the more controversial
subjects concerning Christianity and essay titles such as:
| 'Discuss whether its possible to be a Christian
and in a same sex relationship' |
| or |
| 'Explore the Christian rationale for environmental
ethics and asses its strengths and weaknesses'. |
....have been challenging and have served to
mould me in to being a more thoughtful and humble person.
Also in this past year I've had the privilege
to take part in 'Prison Fellowship' and have
been involved in the Sunday Service at Cardiff prison with the
priviige of 'Giving the Talk' / Sermon. Unfortunately the Prison
Fellowship are currently re-organizing their enrollment system
and so as a new comer, my opportunities of involvement are limited
until I can be fully registered. Hopefully this will happen soon
and I can begin regular Prison visits oustside of Sunday Services
as I really feel that The LORD wants me inside that building -
It's mad, so many people are desperate to get out of Cardiff Prison,
but I am desperate to get in.
Apart from what I am learning in my Theological
and Ministerial studies, my skills include Clowning, (although
I tend to ONLY do this for children in poor developing countries
nowadays), and writing, recording and performing music. My abilities
as an audio producer and engineer are excellent and I am proficient
in using recording equipment on both MAC & PC platforms. My
preferred DAW is Pro Tools. I see music recording and producing
as a viable way to reach the youth of the UK and prefer to dedicate
my artistic time to music rather than clowning in the UK. I own
both MAC and PC based recording systems, the PC one being less
powerful, but more portable.
College has been academically tough for me this
years and so I'm really looking forward to getting out to Brazil
again in the summer and just serving
some people, listening to their stories and getting
back in to a practical rather than reflective faith.
I always liked the (Steve Chalke) Oasis quote that theirs was
a "roll your sleeves up kinda faith". Sounds about right
to me.......................
Amen.
